The Harold and Agnes Richardson Drawing Prize Terms & Conditions

Entering this Award constitutes your acceptance of the terms and conditions:

A. Entry fees are not refundable.
B. Exhibitors agree to their work being reproduced before and during the exhibition.
C. Entrants are requested to include a photo of their work for promotional purposes with their entry. (This must be a digital jpeg file). Image files MUST be titled as follows: Your Surname_First Name_Title of Artwork.jpg.
D. Artworks to be delivered to the Gallery at 3/162 Petrie Terrace, on bring in day.
E. Entries must be the original work of the exhibitor. The artwork must not have been exhibited in an RQAS organised exhibition in the last 2 years.
F. The work must be suitably presented and ready to be safely displayed. Please clearly mark the artist’s name and address, the title of work, and price on the back/underneath work.
G. Combined area of works submitted by one person not to exceed 2 square metres (height multiplied by the width= square metres, for example: 1.3m x 1.5m= 1.95 m2).
H. Artworks will only be displayed at the discretion of the Gallery.
I. All works need to be easily carried by 1 person.
J. The gallery will charge 33% commission (including GST) on all sales.
K. Entries are accepted, displayed, and returned at the owner’s risk. Freight and insurance are also the owner’s responsibility. All care will be taken, but no responsibility accepted for loss or damage.
L. Artworks that have not won a prize may be picked up on Saturday 13th October between 10 am and 12pm.
M. Works not collected within three months of the exhibition closing date may be disposed of at the discretion of the RQAS Management Committee.
N. The Judge/s decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
O. RQAS reserves the right to not present the prize money if there are insufficient quality or quantity of artworks.
P. We offer 3-month lay-by options for buyers. Any lay-by not finalised within this time will have the artwork returned to the Artist.
Q. Artist will be paid for any sales after the end of the exhibition OR when any lay-by is paid in full.
R. Prize winners must leave any prize-winning artworks until the end of the Biennial Exhibition on Saturday 27th October 2018.

Note: Hanging your work. The hanging system in the gallery works best if works to be hung are hung using “D” Rings placed approx. 10cm from the top of the frame, with wire or other nonstretch between them.

Attach a label at the back of the artwork, bottom left stating: Artist name, Title, Medium and Price.

How to Enter:
1.1 Please download the PDF entry form on the Queensland Figurative page.

1.2 Post, deliver or email your entry form and images to Unit 3, 162 Petrie Terrace, Petrie Terrace 4000 or entries@rqas.com.au

1.3 Image files (in jpeg format only) no larger than 3MB and 300 DPI must accompany each entry. Digital files can be emailed to entries@rqas.com.au or Supplied on a clearly labeled CD or USB/Flash Drive. Image files MUST be titled as follows: Your Surname_First Name_Title of Artwork.jpg.

1.4 Enclose handling and admin fee of $50 for one work or $100 for two works.
Payment can be made online via PayPal (using your Mastercard, Visa, PayPal account or Bank account) after completing the online entry form.

Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) to
BSB: 084123
Account: 775276512 (please include your name and “QF entry” as reference).

Cheques or money orders need to be made out to the Royal Queensland Art Society Brisbane Branch Inc.

EFTPOS or cash is able to be accepted at the gallery office.

1.5 Payment and Entry forms must be received by the Gallery by Tuesday 14th August 2018

General Conditions:

2.1 Entries must not have been exhibited within a 200km radius of Brisbane.

2.2 All fees are non refundable and are associated with administration expenses.

2.3 Up to 2 artworks may be entered for preselection.

2.4 Painting submitted must not be substantially different from the image entered.

2.5 Exhibitors will allow their work to be reproduced, and all efforts will be made to ensure the necessary acknowledgments of authorship are made.

2.6 Entrant must be over 18 and a Queensland resident.

2.7 Proof of address or Personal ID may be required.

2.8 It is expected that exhibitors attend the Opening Event/ Awards Night.

Preparation of Paintings for Exhibition:

3.1 Artworks should not exceed 1.5 square meters (including frame). Stretched canvas is considered to be framed. (example 0.93m wide x 1.6 high=1.488 sq m).

3.2 “D” Rings of the appropriate size must be securely attached approx. 10cm from the top of the frame, with wire or other nonstretch between them.

3.3 The RQAS reserves the right to not hang or display paintings, reasons may include:
i. the artwork can not be shown safely.
ii. it does not adhere to the brief.
iii. the entry try does not follow the competition guidelines.

3.4 The artwork must be painted in Oil Paint, Acrylic (or other water-based media), Mixed Media or as a digitally painted image. A suitably framed and mounted Giclee image is acceptable as an entry for a digitally painted image. A digitally painted image must be a unique artwork, therefore an edition artwork will not be accepted as an entry.

3.5 All works must be for sale and include GST if applicable to the Artist. RQAS will charge 33% commission on all artwork sold.

Selection and Judging
4.1 Selector/s will view all the digital images and select the exhibition from the images received. Artists will then be informed if they have been successful or not.

4.2 The Judge will award the prizes from the finalist exhibition.

4.3 The decision of the Judge is final and no correspondence will be will be entered into.

6.1 Please confirm attendance to opening night, Dress code: Dress to impress!

2.5 Exhibitors will allow their work to be reproduced, and all efforts will be made to ensure the necessary acknowledgments of authorship are made.

2.6 Entrant must fit into one of two categories section one 14 – 17 years old or section two 18 – 30 years old and a Queensland resident.

2.7 Proof of address or Personal ID may be required.

2.8 It is expected that exhibitors attend the Opening Event/ Awards Night.

3.3 Artist can submit their work as described in point 3.2 or the following will be accepted

  1.   The work need not be framed either but must be presented neatly ie:  the paper it is on has normal straight edges
  2. (b)  or deckled edge paper
  3. (c)  Alternately the work may have a mount board surrounding as a frame  for extra protection of the drawing.
  4. Note if appropriate for the artwork, magnets would be used to hang these works

3.4 The RQAS reserves the right to not hang or display paintings, reasons may include:
i. the artwork can not be shown safely.
ii. it does not adhere to the brief.
iii. the entry does not follow the competition guidelines.

3.5 The artwork may be in any media or style.

3.6 All works must be for sale and include GST if applicable to the Artist. RQAS will charge 33% commission on all artwork sold.
